Joyful body π· 1: The beginning
Joyful body π· 1: The beginning
My journey of building a joyful (a healthy, feel-good state) body in 2019, after giving birth to my 2nd child.
I had always been active, and when I was little, I also used to do gymnastics.
While I was pregnant, I missed being able to do all of that, so with my 2nd child being my last child (or so I hope, lol), I wanted to test out my limits, and see how close I can get to the kind of physical capabilities I used to have compared to when I was 3.
There's a lot of work to making our bodies feel joyful -- eat right, sleep right, exercise, and with a full time work and watching kids, it's not easy.
The two basic approaches I took, were (1) 16/8 intermittent fasting and (2) waking up 1 hr early to do some weight and yoga exercises.
There are tons of merits in these commitments. It's less cooking/cleaning (personally that is, the rest of family eat 3 meals/day), and improvement of physical strength and flexibility to keep up with work, chores, kids without much fatigue at the end of each day.
IF also promotes anti-aging / rejuvenating functions because your body generates natural chemicals such as autophagy and growth hormone (many resources/studies say this, just look them up), and it's true because my skin is less dry and has a kind of glow that I didn't used to have.
