The capsule wardrobe is a great time and space saving concept for our everyday use.
If there's 1 occasion where it proves its full potential, it's traveling.
In 2020, I invited my parents to a 10-day trip to Hawaii to celebrate their anniversary, and all I needed were my carry-on backpack and a compact suitcase.
3/4 of my compact suitcase was filled up with outfits and other necessities, and 1/4 was intentionally left empty, to carry souvenirs.
Since my intention was to solely to enjoy the trip, and not worry at all about my luggage, I aimed to travel extremely light.
Here's how I created my capsule suitcase.
I first made sure the hotel offered laundry, the more I could wash, the less clothes needed.
In my case, I was able to do washing everyday or every other day.
I brought 3 top pieces and 3 bottom pieces.
So 3 x 3 would give me 9 ways of outfits.
The dress could be worn on its own, to be the 10th outfit.
Here are some actual pictures with the outfits.
Bonus tip: Plan for unplanned outfits.
My mom was really hyper about the trip, and bought us matching Hawaiian dresses, so it was a nice surprise add-on.
I actually ended up wearing this dress more than any of the outfits I brought lol.
The trip was a big success, thanks to the company of my parents, great location, and couldn't have been better if it weren't for concept of capsule wardrobe that allowed me traveling light and enjoy every single moment to the fullest extent.
I now adopt this concept in my everyday life, not just when traveling, and this is what helps me feel at peace, happy, and better at problem solving than dwelling on problems.
Will share more tips, stay tuned!
