From this post, I'll be introducing different methods of creating the capsule wardrobe. You may be able to find 1 method that works, or a mix of multiple methods to work.
Clothes can be hard to work on, each piece is unique, and some may have special meaning to you. We'll take this as easy as possible, because the goal is to lessen our stress, not forcing ourselves into the shape of life we aren't comfortable with.
I first suggest doing the very traditional method: The 1 in 1 out, where when you purchase a new piece, you let go of an old piece that has a similar design/functionality as the new piece. The reason we want to achieve capsule , is to aim for less or even everything out, and not increase the inventory.
Once you're comfortable with 1 in 1 out, I can suggest you to try the 1 in 2 out. It may sound more challenging, but take a look at these images that I actually worked on from my wardrobe.
Clothes usually have 2 functionalities, (1) Keep our body warm and (2) Purpose for the occasion.
We tend to purchase clothes based on their designs, and may not capture the functionality of them when we are shopping, so it's a good idea to start focusing on the functionality aspects of our clothes, in order to best build ideal capsule wardrobes.
To make it easy, I've chosen not-so-hard-to-let-go items such as bras, ordinary clothes like plain sweaters and sweat pants.
Have a look below to see how 1 in 2 out works.
The padded camis are available in different sizes, not just small.
This one is my favorite find so far that brought me joy. Link to fleece lining leggings
I hope this post has provided some good tips for your project.
Stay tuned for more ideas!
