Welcome to another post of room make over session!

In part 1 Homemaking 🌷 7: Room makeover (part 1), I shared the before & after of the same room taken from another angle.

Today, I'm sharing the before & after from the other end of the room.

Have you ever tried doing a room make over before, and what was your reason?

My reason was (mentioned from time to time in this blog), because I had my last baby in 2019 and during my maternity leave, I came across the Life-changing magic of tidying up by Marie Kondo and minimalism (KonMari isn't exactly minimalism, but her methods provide great help for those who want to achieve simple living). These ideas struck me and I felt a sudden englightment, that I decided to use my maternity leave to switch up my room, filled with clutter and visual distractions, to a calm and peaceful place.

We're a family of 4, living in approx 1,000 sq ft home, so there isn't a lot of storage spaces.

Here is the before picture, we considered this as our living room at this point in 2019 (I changed up things again in 2020, and will show you what I did with this room at a later post..!)

In this before picture, it's got most of the basic things that belong to a living room:

TV, TV stand with books / pictures, coffee table, couch, rug, (piano,) etc.

I didn't like how all the colors made a tiny room appear very congested and visually disturbing.

I went though all my stuff, which wasn't too much labor or time, thanks to the small place we live in.

And here's the transformation I created.

I changed / painted the pieces in the room to be unified in the color white, so they reflect more light and make the room appear mor espacious.

Things I changed:
Rug, couch, coffee table, kids chairs, and painted the existing TV stand white.

I also moved the coffee table to against the wall so everyone could move around easier.

It felt really good to be able to change a room like this on your own, and I learned that it's totally ok to change / make updates in our homes to improve the quality of current life.

Did I have any concern with the white rug with kids? Maybe, but as long as I clean it right away, it should be ok, if anything, I can change again when it gets ruined too much. Again, the cost of my worry is very low thanks to a small space we have :)

The joy of using my own brain and muscles to apply all these changes, actually overpowered any of my worries.

I could see that my kids were happy too, they jumped and rolled around the new open area, I mean, who wouldn't?

Here's another room transformation I worked on, to create an open feel:

The "white" room was created around later half of 2019, and will actually go through another make over in 2020, when stay-home lifestyle started.

Stay tuned to catch the next transformation!
