Simplified life or minimalism is definitely a rising trend these days. People are finding the calmness of organized surfaces as the appealing way of living. I was also, admittedly, one of the millions who was mind blown by the idea of Marie Kondo's tidying up series.

Her vision about home tidying up, and organized pictures that were of her influences, gave me a huge motivation in giving my own home a makeover.

Since Marie's pictures were often nice, neat, and bright, I wanted to mimic those kind of looks by switching the couch and coffee table in my living room (at the time, and you'll see why I say this in a future post) from darker tones to white, and removed anything that wasn't in use.

Here's the before picture.

And voila, we had our updated room with more room to move, and less visual distractions. (You might also notice that the stand on the bottom right corner was black in "before", and got painted white in the "after")

It wasn't until I created the "after" version, that I realized how distracting the "before" had been, and is really funny how this can relate to my other article Joyful Body 🌷 7: And the best food award goes to..!

I've always been relatively spontaneous, to leap right into action when a good idea flies over my head, and have little or no worries when I work on projects like this, because I start by envisioning a rough end result. In a way, it may be similar to Thomas Edison's “I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.”

This couch is actually converts (opens up) to a bed, and there're compartments underneath, which is really convenient.
Thu particular couch is by Istikabal: Link to Istikbal sofa bed

I was pretty happy with the "after" look, because it felt like I moved in a new place. The white/brighter toned furniture also give out a more open feel to the tiny space, so in this case, the change was effective. All that's left to do was to adding some accent items here and there for pop of colors.

The tip from this post, is that when we have a lightbulb moment, just go for it, because, why wait? It's all about wasting no time before we leap into action so we can see what happens on the other side of that inspiration. There's plenty of resources, and I'm sure we live with enough income to support little makeovers like this, so give it a try, and keep challenging.
