I love food, just like any human being.
It's our nature.
My mom's cooking skill is exceptional. She used to work in foreign affairs, and would frequently sit down with her guests to have feasts while discussing important subjects, so it kind of became her permanent eating style to always prepare more than generous amount of festive food, even at home for everyday occasions.
A couple of dishes from my mom's everyday cooking.
I was most fortunate to grow up with in a family with her holiday-like dinner almost every night, enjoy with my parents and brother, and be treated like a special guest all those years - - and certainly thought that was normal.
Fast forward years later, I'm now a married, fulltime work-from-home mom of 2 boys, and my husband happens to be the better cook, so he takes care of all the cooking, and I chose to become an IF-er (intermittent fast-er), with low carb/sugar/salt/oil diets, because that's what I believe shape me up physically and mentally.
The main reason for going low on carbs, is simply because my tummy was always bulgy, even not pregnant, and I suspected that carb just didn't digest fast enough before I had the next meal, and that was a good start. It took a few weeks, and my tummy gradually went down bit by bit.
As I've been mentioning from previous posts, I also do work out and IF really proves its effect when these 2 are combined (stomach, thighs, butt, will all slim down).
I won't deny that I still love food just as much, but now that I have responsibilities as a parent and an employee, stress is the last thing that I want to deal with, therefore I decided to take good care of my health and happiness, from within, so I can best perform my roles.
So what do I do when I'm tempted to eat more during my eating windows?
Here is my solution.
Yes, I've gone.. "nuts."
If you aren't allergic to nuts, they're the most reliable option to go to, when we have craving or appetite for unplanned meals/food.
Some sources say that we can eat lots of nuts, and practically gain almost no weight (unless of course, we eat excessively), and if anything, they're so nutritious, that I personally feel that my skin has shown improvement and hair loss has lessened.
Maybe it's the combination of low carb + veggie & fruit + workout in my particular case, but nonetheless, I have been able to get surprisingly nice results from the choices I'm making.
Also, I buy the nuts in the least processed form, unsweetened, unsalted, (almonds are roasted rather than raw) because I want to eat for their nutrition (less toll when digesting), and prefer having no unnecessary flavoring (=more toll when digesting).
I almost treat the nuts as replacement for carbs - - they've become my favorite munchies during my 8hr eating window.
I'll introduce my workout routines in the next few posts, stay tuned!
