I began my low carb / fasting routine in 2019, after giving birth to my last child. I reclaimed my body to myself, and envisioned a freshly paved road to building a joyful and energetic body, that lasts for as long as I live (I wanna impress myself doing a split by the age 60!).
In the previous part Joyful body π· 3, I suspected my bulgy tummy, despite being not pregnant, and eating moderate amount of food, was from carb intake was more or faster than intestines could digest. So step 1 was cut down on carbs.
Note that our stomachs are sized according to the amount of food we regularly eat. If we eat a lot all the time, our stomach will gradually expand to accommodate the needs, and if we eat exactly what our body needs, it naturally restores to its regular size.
Take anatomy chart for example, the size of the stomach is really about the size of both of your fists together, so logically, speaking, we only need a plate of food about that size, or less, if we don't want to go over the limit.
On the first few days of low carb meals, I did feel (what I thought was) hungry. The interesting thing I learned was that with 3 meals a day, only a few hours apart, we are technically never actually "hungry", but more like have appetite for the next meal. Real hunger is when we don't eat for days.
After a few weeks, I felt that all the undigested food that was sitting in my stomach, finally all moved out of my body, and I started to see my stomach shrinking. I didn't do anything extreme, and still ate enough variety of foods, just low or no carb, and did see changes happening, proving my logic was correct.
I'll show you some of the pictures of my daily meals. Each row shows the meals of the day.
